![]() One thing's for sure, the governor is never going to give up his unchecked total "emergency" powers, and there's no legal process to take it away: he has to give it up voluntarily. For most int'l (except a few countries) arrivals, still 10 day quarantine is mandatory, regardless of test results or vaccination status, meaning that if you take a short flight from somewhere with next to no covid like French Polynesia (short 4 hour flight from PPT), are fully vaccinated, did the test for US entry and that is negative, you will be still locked up for 10 days here, science, facts and statistics be damned. ![]() Remember, that is so for US arrivals - at least a way to bypass the quarantine. May be a few months after WHO declares that global pandemic is over (late 2022 may be, more likely 2023) will the Hawaii gov't start thinking about easing down on this show. It's not like HA can continue this forever.Oh the governor here for sure will keep this up until the end of the year at least, and likely throughout next year. Why go to cost/trouble for something that likely wont be an issue in few weeks/months. Vaccination are up, cases are down, eventually the program will be no more. I just cant see the benefit for airlines at this point. When I arrived in HNL last week on DL 1186 from ATL, I was one of the first ones off sitting in D1 but the line still took 30 mins due to other flights in line ahead of us so having DL join the wristband program would help speed things up upon arrival into Hawaii. It doesn’t help that the only two airlines (AA and DL) who don’t participate in the wristband program both use the E Gates at HNL so lines have been rough lately at the E Gates exit checkpoint. ![]() Lines of up to 2 hours have been reported upon arrival at HNL over the past week as we head into the summer travel season. Fuchigami estimated it will take another few weeks before all the airlines are signed up.Apparently the State of Hawaii is working with both AA and DL (the only two airlines who still aren’t in the pre-clear Hawaii wristband program) to bring them into the program to help with long lines upon arrival sometime within the next few weeks. ![]() One challenge is that not all airlines are yet participating in the state’s program to prescreen travelers for COVID-19 and notify travelers about what to expect.Īlaska Airlines, United Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways are participating, but American Airlines and Delta Airlines are still in the process of joining the process. ![]()
